Aerated waste water lagoons
|
| |
Aerated waste water lagoons are used for waste water treatment in rural areas, e.g. in sugar factories (aerated storage ponds). These low-cost lagoons allow for fully biological waste water treatment.
They generally consist of two aerated waste water lagoons, installed one behind the other, and a lagoon for secondary clarification.
The BOD5 load in aerated waste water lagoons is only 20 or 30 g BOD5 per m3 x d. Waste water lagoons require a much larger area than activated sludge plants, and therefore are only practical for rural areas.
FRINGS immersible (TA) aerators used in waste water lagoons are generally floating installations.
For further details on the aerator sizing, please read our FRINGS information bulletin no. 404.
