FRINGS uses DGL models to perform computer simulations of bioprocesses, such as mass transfer, growth, product formation, respiration, etc., of different cell systems and develop optimum process strategies.
Flow simulation
CFD simulations allow for detailed investigations of mixing and shearing phenomena and increasingly replace test runs.
Shearing investigations
These investigations allow to determine the biomass loss under certain hydrodynamic conditions.
Based on these results and considering the shear forces applied by stirrers to tenside-stabilized emulsions, FRINGS develops customized fermenters.
Determination of oxygen transfer rates
The oxygen transfer rate is an important factor for high cell-density fermentations.
To determine the oxygen transfer during a fermentation process, an exhaust gas analysis is carried out, whereas in model systems a special sulfite method is used.
