High-performance aerator FRIBORATOR

FRINGS has designed the FRIBORATOR as a highly efficient hygienic-style aerator system.

The self-aspirating aerator is based on the rotor-stator principle and offers the following advantages compared to conventional systems:

  • Efficient oxygen transfer
  • High OTR values
  • A single unit for aeration and mixing
  • Low energy consumption

Hygienic design

The FRIBORATOR has been designed to meet all sterile design requirements.

It has a surface finish of < 0.4μm, with self-draining surfaces.

FRIBORATOR type 75 and all larger sizes have an integrated total drainage system installed at the bottom flange of the aerator.

For the FRIBORATOR type 300 and larger, the air pipe runs through the bottom flange, facilitating the CIP process.

FRIBORATOR aeration turbines are sized according to the FRINGS propagators.

They are also suitable for retrofit to existing systems.

The FRIBORATOR type P can be used in pilot fermenters, pilot plant stations and production fermenters.

Operating principle of the FRIBORATOR aeration turbine

The FRINGS FRIBORATOR aeration system is equipped with a star-shaped turbine designed to axially aspirate the liquid from the bottom of the fermentation tank and to accelerate it centrifugally and tangentially at the work space.

The rotation creates a vacuum at the backside of the work space, which is connected to the air pipe.

Due to the pressure differential between the air pipe and the work space, air escapes into the work space of the turbine and intensive gas/liquid mixing takes place.

The gas/liquid mix is transferred by the turbine into the stator channels (see fig. 2).

The gas/liquid mix escaping from the discharge ports forms a turbulent gas/liquid jet.

The oxygen contained in the rising air bubbles is released into the liquid.
